Wellington basketball defeated Olympic Heights December 5th with a final score of 61-60.

“I’ve been coaching a long time,” said coach Matthew Colin, “and been on the other end of many of these buzzer beaters. Finally glad to have one go our way.”

After battling it out in the first half, Olympic Heights lead the Wolverines 49-55.

With  2:30 left in the 3rd quarter, point guard Danny Valentin scored a three to make it 52-55. They ran down the clock till the bottom of the fourth where Wellington was still down 56-61. At the 2 minute mark in the fourth, Myles Samules hit a clutch three to bring Welly down by two, making it 57-60. Linton Brown went to the line and made one out of two.

Olympic Heights was fouled and went 50% at the line. With a couple seconds left and Wellington still down 58-60, the Wolverines inbounded the ball and Chris Walker got it at the top of the key to hit the fadeaway three off the backboard for the win.
