Green School Award

Green School Award

Sydney Meve, News Editor

For the school year of 2016-2017 Wellington High’s Environmental Club is attempting to win the Green School Award.

The club is sponsored by Mrs. Clawson, the resident AP Environmental Science teacher, and has been functioning for over a decade. In previous years WHS has won the Green School Award, but has not achieved the exemplary status since 2012.

The Green School Award is a prestigious recognition bestowed upon schools which have made considerable progress in green initiatives. These include school-wide sustainability, environmental education, energy efficiency, landscaping, innovation, and more. This program is sponsored at the national and state level.

The club is meeting weekly to discuss the efforts currently being made by the members. Members will be responsible for chairing each of the categories. This fall, a conference will be held for all interested schools and hopefully WHS will be attending.

So remember to make Wellington green this 2016!
