The Wellington varsity football team lost its first home game of the season to Treasure Coast Friday with a final score of 43-7.

In their season opener, though many players sustained injuries, the Wolverines never lost hope and continued to play. After Treasure Coast scored, Wolverines’ receiver Tristan Abinet scored the team their first touchdown of the game in the second quarter.

Treasure Coast continued scoring through the second half, giving Wellington their first loss of the season.

“I put everything on the line,  and I didn’t want to let my brothers down.” said offensive guard Julian Odums. “I’m going to come back harder”.

The Wolverines play their next game at Palm Beach Lakes Friday.
