New England’s star tight end, Rob Gronkowski shocked the world of sports recently, announcing his retirement. Gronkowski announced March 24 that he was retiring from the NFL at the age of 29 years old after playing in the league for 14 years. He cites multiple injuries as his reason for retirement.

Just recently, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck retired from the NFL due to injuries as well. Fans of the NFL were shocked because both players were only 29 years old.

The reasoning for these individuals to retire at a young age is because they both have had multiple injuries associated with playing. Andrew Luck was experiencing knee injuries from always getting hit a lot at the quarterback position. Rob Gronkowski was involved in catching the ball and getting hit as well.
