Memorable Senior Night 2018 for Wolverines Football, Marching Band

Despite bad weather at their game against Atlantic High School Friday, the Wolverines made senior night one to remember with a heartfelt halftime performance from the Mighty Wolverine Sound marching band and a ceremony honoring former WHS football player Ahmmon Richards.

Richards, who suffered a career-ending neck injury in October playing division 1 football at the University of Miami, had his #2 jersey retired. He was honored at tonight’s game for accomplishments in high school and beyond.

“It feels great being home,” Richards said. “I haven’t been here in a long time. It’s great always having Wellington cheer for me. This is home.”

Harsh weather forced many fans from the stands during the Wolverines’ final game of the regular season, but did not stop the members of the Mighty Wolverine Sound marching band from enjoying their performance. For graduating seniors, it was their last chance to play in a Wellington home game.

The game was called prior to the end of the 4th quarter due to wind and rain, with a 42-3 loss to Atlantic.
