The Wellington Boys Volleyball team went up against the Boca Raton Bobcats at home Tuesday night. The Wolverines came out with enthusiasm in the first set, cruising to an easy 25-17 victory lead by Wellington’s outstanding front line. Arthur Strappazzon had a great game, tallying five solo blocks, and seven assisted blocks.
Adjustments would come for Boca, however, and the second set would be a much tighter match. The Bobcats would come out with vengeance after losing the first set, and jumped out to a 24-19 lead in race to 25. Wellington would attempt a remarkable rally at this point, and would get the set to a 24-23 score; they however would fall just short and lose the set 25-23.
The third set would come with the opportunity to take a commanding 2-1 lead, and both teams, and the crowd was ready for a great and competitive set. The two stellar teams exchanged wits throughout the set, going toe to toe with eachother, until Wellington finally pulled away 25-23.
The Wolverines had great continuity throughout the game, especially in the aspect of assists, with Alex Ng tallying 32 throughout the four sets. The deciding set would come with the home crowd anxious to celebrate a great victory, but the Bobcats wouldn’t go away that easy. The set was once again competitive throughout, going all the way to a 24-24 tie. The Wolverines would show their great spirit, pulling out the two straight points necessary to win the set, and the game.
