The Wellington Wolverines met up with the Palm Beach Central Broncos Friday night for a back and forth, thrilling soccer match that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. 


 The Wolverines came out of the locker rooms rather sluggish, allowing the Broncos to take a 1-0 lead merely six minutes in.  Palm Beach Central’s strikers wouldn’t let up either, taking the commanding 2-0 lead three minutes later, riffling a shot into the top right corner of the net. 


The Wolverines finally got on the board with 11:40 left in the first period, with a sensational goal off left goalpost. Six minutes later,Wellington knotted the match up at 2 all, with an impressive header off a corner kick.


 Palm Beach Central’s offense remained relentless, shooting at every possible chance.  Their chipping away finally broke through with17:10 left in the game.  A thrilling header sent the crowd into shock as Central took yet another lead.  However,Wellingtonwas put into a prime position to pull off some late game magic.  With13:00 left,Wellington converted on a crucial free kick to tie the game at three all.


The crowd became extremely anxious as the tension was building, and the late game heroics were setting in.  The final ten minutes of a grind it out type game showed the true character of the Wolverines squad.  Thankfully, the grit of the team stepped up.  The moment of the game came with nine minutes left. PBC faced with a penalty kick.  A prime situation for PBC turned into the ultimate momentum shift for the Wolverines, as a blocked kick electrified the crowd and gave the team new life. 


 Wellington scored with three minutes left to steal a 4-3 victory from the Broncos, and cap off a remarkable comeback.  The Wolverines overcame two deficits in a back and forth thriller, showing the true grit, and grind it out potential of this special team.
