Basketball Team Slays in Holiday Tournaments

Erin Bryant, Press Release Editor

While other students were resting over the break, the basketball team played two holiday tournaments.

At the legendary D-Hop Tournament,  the boys won 5 to 1, taking the championship. They beat the best team in the area, Grandview Prep, by 14. Following that success, the boys won a double overtime game where Ethan Bureau hit a buzzer beater 3 over Park Vista to put the team in the finals. Finally they played the host school, Palm Beach Lakes, and won by 27 for the title.

The champions then traveled to Miami to play in the ADIDAS SLAM Holiday Tournament. They triumphed over the host school, Florida Christian, by 10. The next game was against the International School of Broward headed by Johnathan Issac, a 2-guard, rated 4 to 5 star basketball player,  who towers at almost seven feet tall. With skill, the WHS boys shut this player down by holding him to 23 point, winning the game by 11. The team made it to the championship game but unfortunately lost in overtime by 1 to the #1 ranked team out of Miami.

Congratulations to the boys for their stellar performances.
