Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Congratulations to the following students that have been recognized with a Regional Award in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2014, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers.

In 2014, more than 255,000 works were submitted to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards nationwide and only the top 40% receive some level of recognition (Gold Key, Silver Key, or Honorable Mention).

All Gold Key work is currently being reviewed on the national level by creative professionals. National Medalists will be announced on Friday, March 15.

In poetry, Gold Key recipients were Katelyn Drury, and Jessica Parenti. Silver Key recipients were Madison Dalton, Kelsie Dummett, Marcus Elana, and Darby Bach. Honorable Mention recipients were Kelsie Dummett, Heather Ortiz, Aja Padovan, Alene Pohly, and Natalie Thruston.

In journalism, Sabrina Abesamis and Shannon Martyn were awarded the Silver Key.

Alexis Wyrick was awarded the Silver Key in short story. Kelsie Foster received Honorable Mention in Science Fiction/Fantasy. Matisse Garnett-young and Natalie Thurston both received Honorable Mention for personal essay/memoir.

In digital, Gold Key recipients were Paula Diaz, Nicky Rabel, and Julianne Schiliro. Silver Key recipients were Lauren Alsina, Marissa Carreras, and Paula Diaz. Jordan Ellis received Honorable Mention.

In drawing, Madison Dalton received Silver Key and Aaron Davis received Honorable Mention.

In painting, Maria Nastasi received Gold Key.

In photography, Lauren Alsina, and Kiana Ledman received Gold Key. Leeann Hewitt received Silver Key. Honorable Mention recipients were Lauren Alsina, Summer Orzabal, and Angelica Rivera.
