A 66-year-old man, Thomas Alexander from Yellville, Arkansas was hunting and shot a deer. He assumed this deer was dead but as he approached it, it got up and attacked him. He was left with many wounds and cuts.

It is unknown if the antlers were the cause of this hunters’ death. It also could’ve been a medical problem like a heart attack. It is assumed that the deer’s antlers that gored Alexander.

Alexander’s nephew found him. At the time, Alexander was responsive and able to call his wife. He was then airlifted to the hospital where he passed away.

This was a very rare occurrence. In a similar case from 2016, another Arkansas hunter survived a surprise attack.
