Wellington High School has done it once again. This year our school received the Green School of Quality Award. The Palm Beach Green School Recognition Program recognizes schools for taking a holistic approach to going green that incorporates school ground enhancement, resource conservation, curriculum connections, and community involvement with a school wide commitment and focus on sustainability.
Wellington received this honor with the help of the Environmental Club. The members made teachers turn off their computer and printer monitors and VCR before the district’s timer at 5:00 pm.
The policy is that the school receives 15% of its savings. This year we received $2,300 so that means that we saved $34,500 on our electric bill!
On Monday April 30, Mrs. Clawson, adviser of the Environmental Club and AP Environmental Science teacher, accompanied by Felicia and Crystal Yan, went to the award ceremony to receive the award.
